That's why he launched crack down on Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang's faction. By now he is pretty comfortable. He is always consistent in his policy. He may look rigid, but I think he has a point. China has transformed too fast, there are a lot of corruption, and people has become materialistic. Society degeneration has slowly creeping up. But most importantly, the wealth gap has widened. Remember what Deng promised when he opened up the economy. He said some people will get rich first, other will have to wait. The wait is over, they can't postpone it any longer. Xi's main job is to distribute wealth and raise the standard of living for most Chinese.

I'm not saying I agree with every thing Xi did, but I do applauded his poverty alleviation campaign. Building free or cheap houses for the poor, to the capitalist west, that sound like inefficient and there is moral hazard in it. While there is some truth in it, but I believe letting people live in filthy condition just because they can't afford housing, can't be good for moral and society development in the long time. I do disagree with him cracking down on entertainment industry. While there are bad influences there, but cracking down hard on entertainment industry could stifle the creativity of this rising industry, which worry me a lot because this industry is the soft power of China.
