from the beginning. It is not some kind of "original plan" that they have since discarded as you are implying. The second stage Falcon article that I linked clearly states controlled de-orbit is a design feature of Falcon 9, and that the latest uncontrolled de-orbit was some kind of malfunction or miscalculation.

Also, you forget that Falcon 9's second stage is only 4 tons compared to LM-5 core stage's 20 tons. Third, it is only your personal claim that "second stage is made from heat resistant composite, they're gauranteed to survive re-entry and hit the ground intact". Do you actually have a reputable article that states this is the case?
