I guess it's time for an update. Many pix used here were posted by bomberman.

The first piece is the six 094/094B SSBN in service. It's really an old news. Just because somebody acknowledge it doesn't make it any news. The sixth 094B was commissioned in Apr 23, 2021. I already said at that time there're at least six 094/094B. Actually I said there're six SSBN and JL-3 has completed development in Jun 2020.

094B, the latest variant of the 094 class SSBN, it feature a very prominent turtle back compared to Russian and US SSBN.

JL-2 displayed in the 70th national day parade in Oct 1, 2019. JL-2's length is about 13m, actually it's comparable to the length of Trident 2, which has a range of 7,600km to 12,000km depending on the payload.

Around mid-2020, there was a report that a new solid fuel SLBM has completed development, it's claimed to have the longest range in the world. IMO, this can only meant JL-3, and the max range is likely around 12,000 km, if we use Trident 2 as reference. And development of a new generation of SLBM has started. Whether JL-3 is deployed in 094B is debatable. But it's quite clear PLAN expect the SSBN to be able to target NA from S.China Sea. How long should the range of SLBM fielded onboard 094B be? Even if they're not JL-3, it's likely to be improved JL-2 that utilize JL-3 technology, or a version of slightly smaller JL-3.

Recently in mid Oct, a 12m diameter hull structure was spotted in Huludao. This can only point to the construction of 096, because current SSN/SSBN hull diameter are about 9m, not counting turtle back. Construction of 096 surely meant to deploy JL-3, whether 096 need a prominent turtle back like 094 is another question, which we'll see in future.

In mid Oct, the Huludao dry dock was filled with water, indicating the launch of a new SSN. Construction of SSN has never stop, even if they're not reported in the news.

Actually a real news is the commissioning of the seventh 055 107 posted by bomberman. But was it reported in the news?

055 numbers are building up. Four 055 seen together in the naval port.

One more thing about the 055, the next batch is pretty much confirmed, in the form of tender notice, so I'd not post it here.

Another important news is the commissioning of the third 075 class 33. But we've already seen pix of 33 launch and in sea trial, so not as surprising.

Naval Z-20 are rarely spotted in official photos, but they're clearly in service. The numbers are building up.
