A summary of what has happened so far.

1. Pelosi announces she will make a trip to Taiwan.
2. China says you cannot do that, and issues several threats.

That set up the looming confrontation.

Pelosi flies into Taiwan, and the PRC declines to even intercept her plane.

Instead, the PRC, acting furious, announces the largest scale military exercise they have ever done around Taiwan, surrounding all of the island, and doing drills east of Taiwan for the first time.

History is important, as back in 1996 in the previous Taiwan crisis, the scale of the PRC exercises were much smaller. This time it is probably a magnitude or several more of being menacing and having more firepower.

The last time, the Americans sent two aircraft carriers to the region, setting up the confrontation, a very big confrontation.

The PRC knows full well, that a big confrontation is looming. These exercises that has Taiwan surrounded, will definitely cause an outcry, and there will be calls for someone to do something.

In short, it does seem that the PRC with these exercises are on a collision course setting up a larger confrontation with the Americans.

But wait a minute ... wouldn't that imply the PRC declined the smaller confrontation with the witch and her broomstick, which was kind of Mickey Mouse. The PRC could have intercepted her plane, took a picture, then everyone can claim victory. This crisis would be over. But they declined to even try an intercept.

Instead, they put things in motion, to go on that collision course for the bigger confrontation. That is interesting. Why does it seem that the PRC wants a bigger confrontation, that Pelosi was not big enough?
