That doesn't mean China should not do something to obstruct them. And no, the US hasn't been really arming taiwan to the teeth for decades, but it could change from now, and that's why it is important for China to make sure that there is price to pay. I'm NOT SAYING China should invade now, but there are things that China can do to make life difficult for them without going to war now. If China send patrol ships to randomly stop and search cargo ships that coming into or out of taiwan, that will significantly raise the risk factor on taiwan economy. China could use an excuse to search for weapons.
