She probably thought that her celebrity status would shield her from serious harm from the CCP, that she was only accusing one man not the entire CCP, etc. I do agree with her in that an ordinary Chinese citizen making such an accusation (wrong or right), would likely have been disappeared long ago, probably forever. In her case the Western media has used her as a cause celebre to take some sh1ts on China, which does in a way shield her from permanent disappearance (luckily for her). But we all know that what she's going around doing and saying now is exactly what the CCP wants her to do and say. That is her punishment for having publicly embarrassed a powerful Chinese official. All things considered this is definitely not the worst possible outcome for her...
