There were three Coast Guard ships based on 056 design, originally for the Customs, but were taken over by the Coast Guard. They don't have the 76 mm canon. Only around a dozen of Coast Guard ships were equipped with the 76 mm canon. But with the transfer of the 22 056, the number will increase by three fold. Besides, 056 are built with military standard, their steel hull are stronger than the ships built according to civilian standard for the Coast Guard. 056 design may meet the need of PLAN a decade ago, now it does not. Like the 022, it has its time, but got obsoleted really quick. Not only PLAN won't build more of the corvette, but PLAN is cutting down on its number.
