I agree that the US situation is pretty bad today, they have huge laundry of dirty clothes to deal with. But like I said, the US has assets in the form of huge landmass with huge natural resources, they also have assets in tech and human resources, plus they don't have to worry of getting invaded by neighbors. While the debts of the US seems about to implode, we may never see that happen if the rest of the world are willing to help bailing out the US like in 2008. Why they want to do that? for many countries, the US market is the anchor of global economy, for some like Japan, the existence of the US is important to help them deal with China . So they have interest of not seeing the US going kaput. So they may still lend a helping hand if they see the US is in deep shit.
