That's is unfair statement. Yes everyone wants self-preservation, which is not a bad thing. Without self-preservation how can we survive? But you make it sound like Chinese people are overly selfish, no his is NOT true. Every country, every people, any where you go there is always the question of 'what's in it for me'. Chinese people are more humble than most.

Imagine you need serious help. If the person doesn't get compensated, how many out of 1,000 people do you think will help you? Out of that number how much self-sacrifice will they go through?

Better yet, just ask yourself this: How much have you done for others without expecting anything in return? Very few people are that selfless.
