18 PLAAF flew around TW that day according to ROC MOD. Y-8Q flew in south of TW. It will only fly toward the east of TW because it's ASW targeting subs in the Pacific, not land targets inside TW. Mirage 2000 is based in northern TW, responsible for Taipei air defence, which is near west coast of northern TW. Why Taipei's Mirage 2000 would intercept Y-8Q in Pacific south-eastern of TW? Also even if it's true that Mirage did intercept Y-8Q, obviously they picked the easiest target, chose not to "watch" the 8 J-10, 2 Su-30, 4 JH-7, and KJ-500, which could summon nearby fighters should Mirage 2000 tried to pull the same stunt. I should say it's the other way round, KJ-500 is watching the movement of the ROC aircrafts, and directing the near by PLAAF fighters on how to react. They could also be probing TW air defence, on a daily basis, so routine that it's not news worthy, especially not to TW media.
