I have close relatives living in the UK. They are doing ok probably because they are retired :) Their children should be alright as they have one or two higher degrees.

They used to be HK government servants and got their British passports before the handover. They are still getting HK pensions while living in the UK, but they live in a reginal center. London is expensive. If those people want to live in a big city overseas, just like they used to live in HK, they may run into financial trouble.
