CSIS done a expert survey recently. There's only one thing they all agree unanimously, it's China expects US military intervention in a TW contingency. The only disagreement is what kind of loss US is willing to take. PLA modernization took off after Xi started his first term, he isn't one of the naive faction. Tackling TW situation is one of the two purposes of his third term. Biden said it four times, every time he strengthen the position that Xi's view is right, the naive faction is wrong.
