Then these remarks from the US ambassador to China, would appear to be the official position of the United States, at least for now, that should be representative of the Biden administration or the boss.

According to the US Ambassador to China, this is a manufactured crisis solely by the Chinese side, and that it is an overreaction.

Since they are saying this new normal is an overreaction, then Pelosi's demands about doing something about this new normal, also is an overreaction.

The US Ambassador to China could have said that the United States reserves the right to respond, or the United States will challenge these actions by the PRC, but they did not say that.

According to him, it is an overreaction, maybe everyone is overreacting and they feel no need to do anything drastic, at the moment.

Sure sounds like they are backing off, or will not escalate the current crisis. I don't follow politics. So I assume this is what is being said here.

When someone says that whatever situation is an overreaction, in general, that is more or less being dismissive, in that what is happening is not that important. In turn any concerns directed to an overreaction, those concerns would be similarly an overreaction to an overreaction. All of which is to be dismissed.
