Clearly, this is a political stunt on the behalf of Pelosi to score cheap political points.

What seems different this time, the PRC is determined to play along, and try to score cheap political points themselves.

Usually the PRC does not try to score cheap political points, because in their system, they do not have to.

This time the PRC is making a point to play politics.

Why?

There could be various reasons, some may be obvious, but ultimately, we don't know.

TWO angle ...

Imagine a poker game.

Only two players, and neither have a great hand.

One is bluffing.

The other decides to put on a bigger bluff.

The Pelosi trip (if it happens) is not the bluff. The consequences (if any) of the trip is the bluff.

The other side suspecting some sort of bluff, raises the stakes, makes an even bigger bluff.

Now, that I find interesting.

It has gone from trade war, to tech war, now to military brinkmanship.

There is not much more room to go along this path before the real fighting starts.


Anyways, we will all find out if the one flying that broomstick will be intercepted.

In fact, the PLAAF can try to intercept her, but still let her through, and just claim the Americans did some of those Tom Cruise fighter jet top gun loops to get through.

In the end, don't believe this will really change anything. It won't move the needle as much as one would expect.
