I started following Chinese military, or any military stuffs for that matter, when China imported 4 sovremennies. How things have changed since then. China was still barely green water navy back then. Japanese navy alone could wipe out Chinese navy back then. Even taiwanese navy was a huge threat to China. 20 years later, China is challenging the US navy, and probably the second most powerful navy in the world, at least on paper, and growing. Hopefully China has at least 10 more years of peaceful development so that Chinese navy can grow even further.
