Xi must be given great credits for purging the military of corruption, rebuilding of displine and moral among the troops and expanding and modernising all branches of the military.

I have read that, before then, the military was extreme corrupt. Commanding posts could be purchased.... etc. And, after the Wenchuan earthquake, Hu and Wen had trouble ordering the troops to go there and do rescue and relieve work.

What I don't know is what caused this pathetic state of affair!!! Was it because Hu and Wen were too weak? Or that Jiang was too strong and was protecting his cronies in the military?
