Finland has much lower GDP per capita than the US, yet its people are much happier. We need to pursue a much more civilized and balance development, where people's basic needs, like affordable housing rent etc, are guaranteed. Letting the market to decide on the availability of basic needs is the same as throwing your people into a dog eat dog world. A civilized society is a society where people feel content with their lives and free from fear of being abandoned to live like dogs, that should be our goal. A certain mix of capitalism and socialism is needed. The question is how to balance it.

As for three child policy, I think setting up a limit on how many child you can have, should only be used in a very critical time. It is obsolete policy now, and should be discarded. Besides, as we have seen with two child policy, not much has changed. People who don't want to have more kids, will not have more kids just because the policy change. People who want to have more kids, will find ways to have more kids no matter what the policy is. What the gov should do is to set up a system that can allow people to feel they can have more kids. Like setting up the childcare centers, or better employment law to protect the rights of pregnant women.
