To be honest, from all my observation about this digital yuan, most foreigners are afraid because they think Chinese gov can freeze digital yuan remotely anywhere in the world. I don't know if it is indeed possible, and I don't think the Chinese gov will shoot itself in the foot by doing that, but the fear is real and there. That's why I think China should issue another digital currency for foreign trade, and a decentralized one and exchangeable with domestic used only digital yuan. It shouldn't be that difficult. China just need to control the exchange, and make it difficult for Chinese citizens who want to laundry their illegal money.

Fareed Zakaria like Kevin Rudd and other Chinese watchers old hand in the US, they are living in their past, why get furious? To be fair to them, they are not bad people with bad intention compare to the new China watchers in the west who are mostly right winger nut jobs today. They are just sitting on their ponies thinking that the ponies are still their high horses, their "advices" for China are obsolete and can't be used by China since the situation is vastly different than in the past.

Take wolf warrior diplomacy for example. The west keep saying that it is a failure, that it turn the west against China. Maybe it is true that it turn the west against China, but is it a failure? Can anyone remember when was the last time dalai lama visited any country? or europeans selling weapons to taiwan? Whether it is a failure or not, can only be determine by the result, not by how much the west like it and it is still a work in progress, and so far the result is a mixed one, with slight tilt to benefiting China, though I admit it is costly to China in term of its relationship with the west and other countries, but it is a cost that China can't avoid anyway in its quest for supremacy, better pay it in instalment rather than paying it in lump sump in the future. Countries may fear China today, it is inevitable, since China is heading to the superpower status, but only by becoming true superpower that can instill fear on others, can one become a benevolent power to others, and be respected by other countries. Half assed superpower that can't instill fear on others can only be despised by other countries, just like how much people envy and hate the new rich no matter how much the new rich try to be generous to others.
