USSR collapsed because it's economic model is inefficient and closed. Btw, when I said investing in softpower, I didn't mean that China should also spread its ideology or model of governance. That said, I think it is inevitable that some of Chinese model could end up spreading whether China want it or not, like the infrastructure boom led economy that being copied by many developing countries today. Internet great firewall could be the next model that will be copied by others. The world is flat, and countries are building walls. Whether this is a good thing for China or not, I don't know, but my instinct told me it is not good, especially if Chinese tech giants want to expand.
