UBI is to maintain a stable underclass who will be pushed out of the job market because they are no longer relevant.  It is to create an underclass consumer base while maintaining peace.  A.I.and automation will be more efficient and lower cost, the rich will maintain their porfitability even after paying a premium to support UBI.

The thing is, India and lower income countries in Africa, South America and South East Asia can't afford UBI and can't compete in higher value added manufacturing and services will suffer.  I see a world of two sides.  China fortunately crossed over just in time.  India on the other hand is relegated to being a barking lap dog in the service of its former colonial masters in gaining an edge in this new economkc reality.
