It is like a family had sympathy from others for its bad luck and struggles.  People will donate some food and perform some altruistic deeds to help the family.  At the end, the family will still be down on luck but getting by because of its soft power.

If a successful family is hated because of their robot-like way of asserting itself all of a sudden, soften up and open to outsiders' points of views and have recripocal understandings, that soft power with hard power.
