I am glad the open discussion on this topic brought people from both sides with matching passions to debate.  This is how it should be.  The sheer ingenuity, passion and collective intellect will only propel us to the next century.  That's how it should be.  An open forum where  like minded minded people with differing views come together.  

Our civilization is so old that a lot of stuff are embedded in our DNA. Obvious policies that ran contrary to the collective wroldview while at the same time seems to be "perfect" while not work.  Our DNA, the stealth "policy" will do the work.  Keep it open like the Tang people always do.
