if I remember right that the arab script was too holy to be duplicated that fashion. They could've sure replaced pig bristle with other fibres I think.

BTW, the jews also have similar notion the Torah must be handwritten on parchment, prayer before each verse scripted ; printed 'Torah' isn't as 'holy' and not for ceremonial purpose.
