I agree that Chinese can't assimilate into American society

but this is to a great extent due to racism, not the same kind of racism as Americans have against blacks, but a more insidious and subtle racism based on fear of being displaced and resentment at percieved Chinese success (which I would argue is partly behind the affirmative action discrimination). God knows Chinese WANT to assimilate, so they can get ahead.

Chinese are really not that successful in this country. Maybe you haven't seen homeless Chinese in SF and NYC.

Conservative whites are actually slightly less racist against Chinese than liberals partly because they stereotype us as having hardworking values that they think they have too. Just emphasize your Christianity with them, even if you aren't Christian, and don't bring up their drug addiction.

Hispanics and even blacks enjoy more political power in this country, Chinese will always be mistruted as foreigners. Do you call this assimilation? Even after 3 generations, Chinese-Americans who know nothing of Chinese culture and speak only English will not be considered American. In contrast, the whiter-looking of the Mexicans assimilate very well based on their physical appearance.

Are you saying that the sort of hate crimes both blacks and whites often commit against Chinese are "cultural misunderstandings"? They do it because they can easily get away with it, bcause the justice system doesn't usually recognise it as a hate crime, and because Chinese are meek and fear their white gods.

Even Asian-Americans look down on us, and often more than white people do. It's quite likely that the Brooklyn attacker was inspired by Joy Luck Club.
