Even now in HK, the only ethnic chinese I speak to in english are some cousins, nieces and nephews who grew up  in N.america and australia. I don't even speak to English majors in english.

Chinese soy bean production has been quite small, at best a few kg/capita in the old days. Even now the soy production /capita is no > 11 kg (official stats). Mind u toufu is very watery.

Regarding chinese height relative to other people, I take large scale stats over your own perception, anytime.

The worst chinese hygene habit as I observed in HK was littering. My father told me he had seen rural chinese pissing along the road side and some ML tourists held their infants to urinate near ditches but then tourists might have difficulty finding public toilets in HK which could even be a problem for locals. I notice a certain number of subway stations in HK don't have toilets and if they do, you might need to ring a bell to ask someone to open the door. The HKU station is an exception
