Actually there is still two things here that still has not made the decision final yet for Canada, and they actually might allow Huawei to install the 5G networks, as unbelievable as that sounds considering the recent spat.

First is the English has not banned Huawei, and the way I read the situation, if they sign contracts very hard to change anything after that. Those big contracts meant someone from the UK telecom company contact the government and got reassurances that nothing will change. If the UK does not ban Huawei, neither will Canada. After all, Israel will not ban, not sure anyone more close to USA than Israel.

Second is that Canadians are cheap. Banning Huawei will really increase costs to install 5G in Canada. The problem is compounded because it will be delayed at least 2 to 3 years. Canada likes to think of itself as a technological leader, and with banning Huawei they will miss entirely the 5G boat basically. More costs, delayed or no 5G, no innovation opportunity, that would be the price to ban Huawei in Canada. That may be too much, we have to remember that President Trump coerced the Canada government into a new free trade deal after ripping up the old one, just because he felt like it.

There is still an opening here for Huawei 5G in Canada. If the UK does not banned, cannot see how the Canada government will ban. If the UK bans Huawei, then Canada should follow along and ban too. But the signalling from the government so far is to wait. Currently the government is under fierce pressure from Canadian telecoms provider not to ban.

What is the Canadian government waiting for? Only the minister in charge here knows.
