粟, 黍 were mentioned in ancient chinese text though not sure the exact botanical meaning. Confucius ate rice, fish and pork.

As I said before, I hope chinese will graduately phase out rice which need more water than other crop and lack nutrient. The only advantage is it has high yield in warm and wet climate.

(BTW, I just found an old book at the bottom of a stack: "European History", intended for UK Ordinary level (grade 9 - 10) and I'm amazed by its level of English and depth. I just wonder what % of yankie 9th graders could absorb such stuff..)
