I don't automatically associate face-veiling with Islam but rather with Islamism. Women tend to be more religious than men, and "flirty fishing" was historically a recruitment/conversion tactic of at least one well-known cult. What's the difference between inborn gayness and childhood imprinting? If traditional "Christian Taliban" fundamentalism (still very very big in the US outside some major cities) has no future, then what about their Islamic equivalents? BTW Russia is not the only Orthodox country, most of the Orthodoxers I personally know are actually Greek or Arab.
