There was a drug largely unknown to chinese previously and there was an unprecedent massive drug addiction chinese had never experienced before. A prominent chinese coastal provincial governor saw the great danger and started banning and burning the opium and hence the opium war in 1842. The Qing dynasty was in decline and lost the war. It was sadly a war won by the drug pusher. Corsair told us it was chinese's fault.
