There is no evidence that qi and meridians exist, but they don't need to in order for various TCM therapies to work. For example, acupuncture is based on both concepts but has a statistically significant effect on pain and nausea, even controlling for placebo effect.

As for "choosing" to be addicted, nobody EVER fvcking "chooses" to be addicted, how clueless can you be? Availability is the key. People who try drugs for the first time don't try them to get addicted to them, and then choose to lose their hair, teeth, friends, family, jobs, homes, get heart attacks and septic infections, etc., only to wake up each and every day scrambling, begging, stealing or whoring for their next hit. Wake up FFS! Heroin frequently causes addiction after the very first hit and is one of the most addictive drugs out there. It was even worse back in the day because nobody had any real long term experience with addictive drugs, and people and governments did not realize the scope of the problem until an entire society was already addicted. Sigmund Freud was using cocaine medically all the way until the 1890's, and cocaine wasn't removed from Coca Cola until 1903. Nobody knew back then how bad these drugs were. And this is actually an argument against your already ridiculous argument: Americans know now, and yet we still have so many coke/meth/heroin/etc. addicts in this country. Compared to the significantly lower prevalence of drug addiction in China. So who's dumber?
