Not to get too political about this, as I really do not know what is going on to be honest, just some general observations.

** Everybody is a victim. America - white people oppress the victim black people. Hong Kong localist getting the boot from mainland. Canada, everybody is victim to white male. This may be exaggerated, but you know it goes, no one wants to talk about it in case you get ostracized.

** The so-called victim votes, so politicians panders to the victims, while not sure if the politicians are really making an effort on behalf of the victims.

** Somehow, I doubt anything has really changed. The Liberal solution tends to fall along the lines of throwing money at the problem, whatever it may be, which brings forth the usual criticism from the rightist.

** In Toronto, there actually is a homeless industry run by the City of Toronto, in terms of new shelters, the number of beds, social workers. The City of Toronto spends about I forget about $150 million per year on the homeless. They actually made a census on the homeless, and I think it was either 2000 or 5000. Either way, that is a lot of money to service the bums. However, no one ever uses that term anymore. Needless to say, many homeless probably migrated from rural Ontario to the streets of Toronto. It's a growth industry.

** There is a real divide between right and left, so much so I doubt it will ever come closer in my life time. Not sure why this is the case.

Given the current political climate, and the tribal impulses of the politicized people (who may be getting a hand out or tax cut whatever the case may be), that's why it is not surprising that "math can be racist".

Maybe these tough intractable societal problems breed extreme or unconventional views and rhetoric?
