Once winter comes, the homeless in Toronto wind up in a shelter. It's just too cold to be on the streets.Otherwise, they get a sleeping bag and go find some ventilation duct blowing out hot air to sleep. Also, the other thing needed besides sleeping bag, ventilation duct location, is a lot of booze to get plastered, because being that drunk means you don't feel the cold too much.
The danger there is that it gets so cold, but the bum so drunk he does not notice and gets ill or worst.
Apparently there is always one or two guys in Alberta every year that get too drunk, wander outside at -40°C, pass out and become deceased. The newspapers say their blood froze, which would explain why they became deceased.
