The Chinese army is being too BIG, do we need such a massive army? All those latest tanks, armed helicopters, artillery has no value at all in the conflict at sea!   We must understand the US has controlled the South China sea since the US-Spain war 1898, their navy has anchored Hong Kong before the battle begins. More than a century ago, the U.S. has naval presences in the south China sea, this is a hard fact, it was sad but true! It is not an easy task to expell this big old hegamony from the gate! But any attempts is better than no attempts,  China should continue importing Russian built submarines or destroyers to boost the domestic built navy's power, the domestic ship building capability for naval purposes is too low, far from enough thats why we need Russian built ships or subs. Although the Russian ships were far from perfect, the quantities has its qualities if those ships were in good use!
