And what exactly do you mean by "influence"? This "influence" is meaningless if all you're talking about is deliberately spreading propaganda to news outlets and allowing them to run with it, or not, at their own choosing. The US government has nothing besides this to "influence" anything in the US media. It cannot instruct, bribe, coerce, or hint to ANY US news source to do anything at all.
