If by control you mean own them, I never said the US gov own your so called "mainstream media". I said the US gov can influence them to spread the US gov propaganda. If you think the US gov can't do that, then again, who is being naive here? Sure, the media itself will only spread the US gov propaganda if its interest were aligned with the US gov interest, and in China's case that is exactly the case.
