I am sure they all learned from the past. The competion for influence among the big powers has always been a combination of positive/negative.
And to talk like China had been a superpower over a century already is quite laughable. Don't you think? Actually, Laos has not been a beggar and never has a history of famine/starvation like China. Foreigners want to come to Laos to do trade/business and any donation are always welcome. If I remeber correctly China just got out of dependcy on U.N food program.
