Penlung; it was reported a few years back that the Type 85-IIM was in mass production for the PLA. The challenge is telling the difference between the Type 85-IIM and the Type 85-III/Type 88C. Based on the available information, I would say that it's very possible that Type 85-IIM production was quietly changed to Type 88C production in recent years. As far as the Type 96A (Type 98) is concerned, the evidence supports the idea that only a very small number have been produced so far. Some of the most recent photos (the "winter" series) clearly show a Type 96A that took part in the parade with the colorful parade paint roughly scraped off to make it look more tactical.
