I think Col. Yu has several valid points. My impression is we may not be looking at a complete TO and this may be an idealised representation of the main combat elements of a Group Army, without listing Group Army troops like signals, reconnaissance, engineers, logistic support etc. Would it be too rude to ask Mr. Ye where he obtained this information from? The thing that strikes me is that it is certainly a logical TO given the direction in which the PLA has been moving with its Fist units, lessons from the Gulf War, impossibility of requipping 24 conventional Group Armies with 3-4 divisions each, etc. etc. I entirely agree that it is too early to draw definite conclusions, but nonetheless, surely Col. Yu finds the details intriguing and worthy of discussion! Does he care to speculate on the number of tanks in the tank battalions and guns in the artillery battalions, or will these remain the same? I have included his comment on my site as it is informative and asks many questions. I will be posting the information to my side ordersofbattle.cjb.net tomorrow, as I update on Sunday, and have credited the information to Mr. Ye and the Chinese Military Forum BBS. Please look under "China" in the countries menu. If Mr. Ye would like to give me more details about himself, I would be glad to include these in the post.
