Countries like malaysia or indonesia could be less arabised bcos theyre further away from arabia

Another obvious sign is the location of the 2 holiest places which are all in arabia and all muslims must prostrate in that direction. Palestine was the biggest problem(b4 al qaeda/taliban/iraq war) just bcos jerusalem is the 3rd holiest place. Kashmire problem affected a hell lot more people than palestinians but attracted much less attention from arabs to the discomfort of paks.

without turning Arab at that time. Iran is close to the Arabs but was severely butthurt by being conquered by them so they tried not to be identified with Arabs out of a sense of nationalism, and I think that's a big factor in adopting Shiism.

just like Ian McEwan is unexpectedly gay to many people. I havent read 'Good Bye to berlin' yet, not sure if christopfer isherwood included such a character though if he did, the real MC(Hey, the Master of Ceremony, not Mao Clone) was likely gay. Berlin was the bangkok of europe in those days. Regardless, I must admit I'm not as well informed as u're on such matter. Ever watched 'I'm a Camera'? I call it lucky to find the DVD in a crummy HK store
