Personally, I hope it will continue. For

1) Both the West and Russia were imperialists who preyed on a China in decline. I would be happy to see them bleed each other dry.

2) The West, especially Uncle Sam, see China as their ultimate target. They are testing their strategy on Russia because, currently, Russia is seen as the weaker of the 2 competitors they are facing. If Russia is down and is out of the picture, they will concentrate their energy on China. A prolonged struggle in Europe-- whether in Ukraine or elsewhere-- will give China more time to prepare for the ultimate showdown.

I only have sympathy for the ordinary Ukrainians, who are caught inbetween.
