律师规则 -- 不得与有律师代表的对方直接联系

我以前讲过，以前我不是律师的时候在一个案子中发生被告律师把持局面、千方百计阻挠和解谈判的情况，我跟被告公司直接联系，后来绕开被告律师直接谈判，握手言和。但那个情况不涉及任何违规，我那时不是律师，被告公司当然也不是律师。
律师职业守则中有一条：“In representing a client, a lawyer shall not communicate directly or indirectly
about the subject of the representation with a person* the lawyer knows* to be
represented by another lawyer in the matter, unless the lawyer has the consent
of the other lawyer. ”
这条规则是否适用于律师自己代表自己的情况是一个值得推敲的问题，但是规则在那，谨慎为好。
律师还有一条规则，不得向没有律师代表的对方提供法律建议。。。
