爱女心切的美国总统

当时在朝鲜，西线美第八集团军已经在中国军打击下全线崩溃，而在东线长津湖，美海军陆战第一师陷入重围。这封信的前一星期，美第二师撤退途中遭到中国军的阻击，一个下午损失了4000人及几乎全部装备；这封信5天前，美军不得不下令撤退到38线以南，这是美国建国以来美军最长距离的撤退。杜鲁门爱女固然心切，工作的心理压力也不小。
杜鲁门卸任后若干年，终于与那位评论家见面了，两人最终握手言和。那封信，评论家以三千美金卖出，现在价值十万美元以上。

I've just read your lousy review of Margaret's concert. I've come to the conclusion that you are an "eight ulcer man on four ulcer pay."
It seems to me that you are a frustrated old man who wishes he could have been successful. When you write such poppy-cock as was in the back section of the paper you work for it shows conclusively that you're off the beam and at least four of your ulcers are at work.
Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you'll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below!
Pegler, a gutter snipe, is a gentleman alongside you. I hope you'll accept that statement as a worse insult than a reflection on your ancestry.
