Just end of last year to early this year, US media thought sanction would force YMTC to abandon its NAND business, if not kill it outright. LOL. Coming from behind, now they're ahead of other rivals in the 300 layer NAND arena. If SSD storage price has been falling, you've YMTC to thank. Oh yeah, YMTC maybe expanding its workforce by four fold.

Reality sinking in takes time ... if 7 nm process prodction which enable China to meet 99% of its chip demand, is equivalent to explosion of atomic bomb, just wait till the EUV machine enter production in two years time, that'll be the equivalent of explosion of hydrogen bomb... Sooner or later, the Taiwanese will find their semiconductor industry becomes redundant when both China and US don't need them no more. The time may come sooner than they think. By then TW will only be as useful to US as Ukraine.

Other implication the above guy missed ... what's the sales expectation of Huawei mobile phone? Last year Huawei sold around 24 mil unit total. Early this year the sales forecasr was 28 mil unit this year. After the Mate 60 Pro launch, the forecast for this year has been raised to 38 mil uit. Mate 60 series original sales expectation was 6 mil unit this year, it has been raised to 12 mil unit. Next year Huawei's mobile phone sale might reach 60 mil units (I guess including the lower end Honor brand). From Sep onwards, Huawei no longer order 4G chip from Qualcomm. All chips inside Huawei phones are made domestically, no longer buy from foreign firms nor made in overseas fab such as TSMC. Sale of every unit is a lost to companies like Qualcom, Micron, and fabs like TSMC. The question is, how much will they loss?

Either way...
