small secondary surface search radar like the Type 364 or something similar, mainly to help cue the Type 1130, in the same manner as the 054A. These radars are usually going to be X- or Ku-band radars for precise target discrimination. As I said, the frequency of the main topmast radar is going to depend on whether the HHQ-16F is ARH or SARH; if SARH, then it can be nothing other than X- or C-band. If ARH, then that radar could be S-band and lower.

I think those two sources are just talking BS that they don't know, unless this information is coming directly from big shrimps. The radar-deflecting faceting on the non-panel sides of the main radar clearly indicates nothing is underneath; otherwise the radar faces would be showing just like the other sides that already have radar panels showing. Why conceal half the panels underneath faceting while exposing the other panels? It literally makes zero sense.

The one surprising feather of the 054B that I can see from the photos is that the amidships weather deck, instead of having a mere railing along the sides, is completely walled off all the way to the top of the deck, with some panels visible that presumably could be lowered for various purposes. This is undoubtedly for stealth purposes, but I wonder if the sacrifice is more difficult workflows and time spent. You'd have to have collapsible ports available for missile exhaust (if there are indeed YJ-12 launchers on that deck), for at-sea replenishment/refueling, for anchoring at pierside, and for weapons emplacements during close ship defense.

As for the 055, it's my speculation that the smaller sized arrays are the IFF and the larger sized arrays are L-band arrays for early warning radars, vs possibly emitter/receivers for ECM.
