The requirements to do the Battle of the Schelt was easy. We didn't have the fuel to give to Montgomery and Patton. It was one or the other. We gave it to Montgomery and hence MARKET-GARDEN. MARKET-GARDEN's failure necessitated the Canadians to drive towards Antwerp, thus giving the Allies an actual free port. At that point, both Montgomery and Patton had enough fuel to do as each wanted.

I'm sorry but I'm not going to go through 82 BLGs, 2 BATTLEBOOKs, and for fun, 30 US FMs that I've studied decades ago just to post on a forum. Don't even know where I put them. Being a dinosaur also means I earn the right to be lazy. The one that will give you the most answers of what you want is the US FM 3-0 OPERATIONS and the BATTLEBOOKs. Just be prepared for a long hard read. The one thing I will give you is that a Bde can expect to go through 72 hours of high intensity combat without pause or rest. After that, regrouping, re-eval, re-consitution, re-commitment are required.
