I'm still wary of a slippery slope toward uncontrolled spending

The world lacks the resources to feed even the current population, let alone one centered around consumption. The global nitrate fertiliser shortage caused by the Ukraine war is an example, the extraction of atmospheric nitrogen requires natural gas much of which came from Russia. Fertiliser either was outright imported from Russia or used Russian gas to manufacture, and this helped drive up food costs around the world. Phosphates (just as necessary for crops as nitrates) are obtained by mining from finite and dwindling fossil deposits in Morocco and a few other countries so they are similarly subject to cutoffs. We don't have as many supplies of basic necccesities as many would think, and these would be easily disrupted in a crisis. Economic policy should take scarcity into account before trying to increase demand.
