the main problem is that Israel has no incentive to make peace with Palestine. And Israel itself is a powerful and well governed nation, backed by the west. So it is not a pushover too. There are only two things Israel afraid the most, losing western countries especially the US support, or the whole middle east united to fight Israel. None seem going to happen anytime soon. Israel is also wary with the US leaving the middle east and Russia is gaining influence in the middle east. I suspect the Israel has some secret deal with Russia regarding Russia presence in middle east, especially regarding the Syria. That's why Israel is among countries that haven't really seriously condemned Russia on Ukraine invasion. In Syria, Israel and Russia is like river water won't interfere with well water.

To be fair, I don't know what is Israel end game regarding Palestine. I can't believe if Israel think it can just wipe out Palestinians aspiration for statehood. I could only think that Israel is trying to gain teritory as much as possible and leave Palestinians with much smaller territory before Israel make peace with Palestinians.
