It is a war of attrition and the longer this drags out, the worse it is for Ukraine.  As of now, it has mostly depleted its people and weapons.  Russia hasn't even mobilzes its regular forces and weapons in anticipation of facing Nato forces as this escalates.  Most of the Russians fighting in Ukraine are conscripts, Donbas freedom fighters and mercenaries with hundred of thousands of reserves holding the line.

There are misinformation and propaganda from both sides but with a little of homework, we can see that Russia is gaining grounds and achieve its objective of annexing traditionally Russian Eastern and Southern Ukraine.
