It won't benefit Indians in the US, and in fact is bad for Indians in many ways (they get screwed by affirmative action quotas just like Chinese do, and in fact are generally discriminated against in much the same manner). But I disagree that it is not self-hatred, Indian wokism in the US is almost identical to the Joy Luck Club type of internalised self-racism one commonly sees among Asian-Americans of Chinese descent.
