Marcos Sr under the thumb of the US during the cold war with USSR caused the Philippines to degrade from a relatively properous Southeast Asian country to dirt poor.  After the main phase of the cold war ended (1971-1985), Marcos Sr was no longer needed and he was ousted and seek refuge in Hawaii along with his billions.

Marcos Jr, obviously under the thumb of the US given all the skeletons in the closet plus the Marcos family's riches can be taken away by the US at anytime, had to AGAIN be the US dog in the upcoming cold war with China.  The Philippines will forever be poor.

This time it is against China not Russia, you can bet that the maids working in Singapore and Hongkong can see their employment opportunities getting less and less in favor of Indonesians which in my opinion are much better worker and friendlier.  The only advantage the Filipino maids have is they speak some English which can be overcome easily.
